Association founded around Sauna from Finland concept
A new association has been founded around the Sauna from Finland concept developed in Jyväskylä. Its aim is to promote Finnish sauna culture, support the development of services and launch new business activity.
The Sauna from Finland concept has been developed under the direction of Jyväskylä Regional Development Company Jykes Ltd for approximately a year now. With the help of the concept the intention is to foster the creation in Finland of completely new business activity that combines different branches. People are accustomed to think of an innovation environment as a geographical area, but at Jykes we believe that such an environment can also spring up around a strong theme.
Sauna from Finland ry, the new association established to promote Finnish sauna culture, has as its founders Jyväskylä Regional Development Company Jykes Ltd, Diges ry (the national association for developing the creative industries in Finland), Harvia Oy and Sun Sauna Oy. The association's foundation meeting was held at Savutuvan Apaja, Jyväskylä, on 29.4.2010.
- Through the new association Harvia's aim is to boost business activity across the board -with an eye on the international level too. We can also exploit these tidings of joy associated with sauna in our own marketing. New activity must also be sufficiently big to be credible, states Harvia Oy's Managing Director Risto Harvia.
- The first task for the new board is to define the core activity. There's plenty to be done in a number of areas, for instance, experiential products and further refinement of the same. If we can create some kind of certificate connected to sauna, then we'll move to a totally different level, underlines Raimo Huusko, Managing Director of Sun Sauna Oy.
The first full meeting of the association will later select the association's board, which will be responsible for getting activities under way.
