Central Finland is known for pure nature and educational traditions

According to a newly published survey, pure nature and good opportunities for education and research are perceived as the best features of Central Finland, even though the advertisement of the nature themes borders on exaggeration. Themes in which the reputation expectations are not fully met yet are mostly related to the working life and transport connections.

A highly international group of developers, researchers, business leaders and policy-makers will meet in Jyväskylä in October. Their aim is to jointly create new solutions for enhancing the competitiveness of businesses, regions and clusters.

It's official: an entirely new type of business, combining various different fields, is to be born out of the Finnish sauna. Jyväskylä Regional Development Company Jykes Ltd has launched the "Sauna from Finland" concept, with the aim of turning our familiar sauna into new and surprising service innovations.

Customarily, an innovation environment has been understood as a geographical area, but Jykes is confident that it can also be built around a powerful theme. "Mixing various fields is currently an international trend in the development of services. We were trying to find a theme that entrepreneurs in different fields could seize upon, and we discovered the sauna. We believe that the sauna concept can generate new hit products in, among others, the tourism, experience, wellness and creative industries, says Carita Harju, Development Manager of Jykes.

The development of productized business parks will be crucial to meeting growth challenges in the Jyväskylä Region and the future expectations of the business sector.

Jykes ZAO, the St. Petersburg office of the Jyväskylä Regional Development Company Jykes Ltd, was founded 15 years ago with the aim to promote the business operations of Central Finnish companies in Russia. The main purpose of Jykes ZAO is to help companies in Central Finland to enter the Russian market, to foster trade, and to create new business contacts. Services available to companies include market surveys, interpretation and translation services, as well as arrangements for presentations and meetings with Russian companies and organisation representatives.
