Business parks lay foundation for economic growth
The development of productized business parks will be crucial to meeting growth challenges in the Jyväskylä Region and the future expectations of the business sector.
"Nowadays enterprises place high value on quality operating environments and for this reason we wish to offer our customers an even more comprehensive service. The new areas under development include Vitapolis, located in Kinkomaa, a complex offering a whole range of services for the elderly, the Eteläportti technology industry park, Innoroad Park, a cluster of businesses in the logistics branch, as well as an extension to Kivääritehdas", states Juha Takala, Managing Director of Jykes Kiinteistöt (Jykes Real Estate Company Ltd).
The extension of the Kivääritehdas business park - originally the site of a rifle factory - will have a profound effect on Jyväskylä's cityscape. The planned extension of Kivääritehdas runs to some 35 000 floor square metres and will be made up of various new buildings.
The total cost estimate for the project is approximately EUR 60 million and implementation of the first phase is expected to begin in the winter of 2009-2010.
"We're hoping that the new section of Kivääritehdas will attract growth enterprises, which will be offered a full palette of services. These will include, for instance, different wellness services."
"Kivääritehdas - which translates as Rifle Factory - was built in the Tourula area of Jyväskylä in 1926-1927 and is one of the showpieces of industrial development in Central Finland. In 1999 Jykes Kiinteistöt Oy purchased the main building of Kivääritehdas as well as three other buildings under a preservation order. At that point the process of altering the town plan was embarked on, as was work on turning the location into a modern business park", says Juha Takala.
